Heavy snow and ice can affect natural gas meters and cause safety concerns
With the forecasted large snowfall and drifting snow over the next few days, Alliant Energy reminds customers not to forget about clearing snow and ice from their gas meter as well as their furnace vents and other vents around their home.

United Way of East Central Iowa raised $10,581,690 - a new record - in the recently completed 2011 campaign.

Sign up Deadline for 2011 ELAP Approaching
John R. Whitaker, State Executive Director for the Iowa Farm Service Agency, reminds producers sign up for the 2011 livestock, honeybees, and farm-raised fish losses ends on January 30, 2012, under the Farm Service Agency’s Emergency Livestock Assistance Program (ELAP). In addition to submitting a notice of loss, producers must file an application for payment by this date.
2012 Robert D. Blue Scholarship Application Available Online
State Treasurer Michael Fitzgerald reminds Iowa students that the application for the 2012 Robert D. Blue Scholarship is available online at www.rdblue.org. All Iowa residents who plan to attend college in Iowa for the 2012-2013 school year are eligible to apply.
"Over the years we've helped hundreds of Iowa students meet their college costs with this scholarship," Fitzgerald stated.
