Alliant Energy reminds customers: Keep snow and ice off meters and vents
Heavy snow and ice can affect natural gas meters and cause safety concerns
With the forecasted large snowfall and drifting snow over the next few days, Alliant Energy reminds customers not to forget about clearing snow and ice from their gas meter as well as their furnace vents and other vents around their home.

Name: Billy Gonsler
Hometown: Grand Blanc, MI
Billy Gonsler is serving a second year with NCCC. He served with the Perry Point campus in Maryland in 2011 as a Corps Member of Class 17. This year Billy is serving as a Class 18 Team Leader with the NCCC campus in Vinton. He will lead a team of 10-12 Corps Members over a 10-month period and his team will serve on four to seven service projects throughout the North Central Region. United Way of East Central Iowa Raised More than $10.5 Million!
United Way of East Central Iowa raised $10,581,690 - a new record - in the recently completed 2011 campaign.
“This is fantastic news,” said Lois Buntz, CEO and President of United Way in East Central Iowa. “In addition we have $700,440 in additional revenue from grants and sponsorships, plus over $1.8 million in volunteer time.

Whitaker, State Executive Director for the Iowa Farm Service Agency, reminds producers sign up for the 2011 livestock, honeybees, and farm-raised fish losses ends on January 30, 2012, under the Farm Service Agency’s Emergency Livestock Assistance Program (ELAP). In addition to submitting a notice of loss, producers must file an application for payment by this date.
2012 Robert D. Blue Scholarship Application Available Online
State Treasurer Michael Fitzgerald reminds Iowa students that the application for the 2012 Robert D. Blue Scholarship is available online at www.rdblue.org. All Iowa residents who plan to attend college in Iowa for the 2012-2013 school year are eligible to apply.
"Over the years we've helped hundreds of Iowa students meet their college costs with this scholarship," Fitzgerald stated.
